Arrow Manager Network Settings

Arrow Manager provides on-device network monitoring and management through the device’s local web interface. This allows you to view network connectivity status and manage the Network Manager service directly on the Arrow device.

The Arrow Manager dashboard displays real-time network connectivity status for all network interfaces.

The Network Manager service handles network configuration and connectivity management on Arrow devices. Arrow Manager allows you to check for updates, upgrade the service, and restart it when needed.

  1. Access the Arrow Manager on your device
  2. Navigate to the Network Manager section
  3. View current status and available actions
FieldDescription
Current VersionThe installed Network Manager version
Target VersionThe latest available version
Last CheckedWhen the system last checked for updates
Status Badge”Up to Date” or “Upgrade Available”

Click Refresh to check if a newer version of Network Manager is available. This compares file hashes between the installed version and the target version.

When an upgrade is available:

  1. Click Upgrade
  2. Confirm the upgrade in the dialog
  3. Wait for the upgrade to complete
  4. The service will restart automatically

The upgrade may briefly interrupt network connectivity while the service restarts.

Use Force Upgrade to reinstall the Network Manager files regardless of version checks. This is useful if:

  • The normal upgrade isn’t working
  • Files have become corrupted
  • You need to refresh the configuration

Click Restart Service to restart the Network Manager without upgrading. Use this when:

  • Network connectivity issues occur
  • After manual configuration changes
  • The service becomes unresponsive

Expand the File Hash Comparison section to see detailed version information:

ComponentDescription
Script FileThe main Network Manager script
Service FileThe systemd service configuration

Each component shows:

  • Current Hash: Hash of the installed file
  • Target Hash: Hash of the expected file
  • Status: “Up to date” or “Needs update”

File hashes are used to detect changes and determine when upgrades are needed, even if version numbers haven’t changed.

The primary network interface on Arrow devices is a Proxmox bridge (vmbr0) that provides:

  • Wired ethernet connectivity
  • Network access for virtual machines
  • Primary internet route when available

Arrow devices include an LTE modem for backup connectivity:

  • Activates when ethernet loses internet
  • Provides failover connectivity
  • Used for LTE Bridge Mode (advanced feature)

See Cellular Management for detailed cellular information.

The NetBird VPN interface:

  • Creates secure tunnels to your VPN network
  • Enables remote access to the Arrow device
  • Managed automatically by the NetBird service

See VPN Management for VPN connection details.

  • Check network status after physical installation
  • Verify connectivity after network changes
  • Monitor cellular signal strength in new locations
  • Use Restart Service if network connectivity issues occur
  • Check file hashes if behavior seems incorrect
  • Force Upgrade if normal upgrades fail
  • Regularly check for Network Manager updates
  • Upgrade when new versions are available
  • Review network status after power events

  1. Check physical ethernet cable connection
  2. Verify network configuration at the site
  3. Restart the Network Manager service
  4. Check if cellular failover is available
  1. Verify cellular signal strength
  2. Check SIM card status
  3. Ensure cellular is not disabled
  4. See Cellular Management for more details
