Software Updates
Your Arrow device receives software updates automatically to ensure it runs smoothly and securely. This guide explains what to expect when updates occur and how to check your update status.
How Updates Work
Section titled “How Updates Work”Arrow devices check for updates automatically and install them based on schedules set by your organization through the Arrow Portal. You don’t need to manually download or install updates - it all happens in the background.

Checking Update Status
Section titled “Checking Update Status”In Arrow Manager Dashboard
Section titled “In Arrow Manager Dashboard”You can view your device’s update status on the Dashboard or in Settings.
Status Indicators
Section titled “Status Indicators”| Status | What It Means |
|---|---|
| Up to Date | Your device is running the latest software |
| Update Available | A new version is ready and will be installed |
| Updating | An update is currently being installed |
| Portal Controlled | Updates are managed by your organization |
Auto-Update Settings
Section titled “Auto-Update Settings”View your auto-update configuration in Settings > Auto-Updates.

| Check Status | Button to manually check update status |
What Can I Do When an Update Is Available?
Section titled “What Can I Do When an Update Is Available?”When you see “Update Available” status, here’s what you can do:
Available Actions
Section titled “Available Actions”-
Check Status: Click the “Check Status” button in Settings > Auto-Updates to refresh your update status and see the latest information from the portal.

Review the Status: Check the Dashboard to see update progress and estimated timing.

Continue Working: Updates install automatically based on your organization’s schedule - you don’t need to take any action for the update to proceed.
What You Cannot Do
Section titled “What You Cannot Do”Updates on Arrow devices are portal-controlled, meaning:
- You cannot manually start or trigger an update installation
- You cannot schedule when updates occur
- You cannot skip or postpone updates
If You Need to Adjust Update Timing
Section titled “If You Need to Adjust Update Timing”Contact your organization’s administrator. They can:
- Adjust the update schedule through the Arrow Portal
- Prioritize or delay updates for your device
- Provide information about when the update will install
What Happens During an Update
Section titled “What Happens During an Update”When your device updates:
- Download: The update downloads in the background
- Install: The new software is installed automatically
- Restart: Some updates require services to restart
- Resume: Your device continues normal operation
During the Update
Section titled “During the Update”- Most updates complete without interrupting your work
- VPN connections may briefly disconnect and reconnect
- The Dashboard will show the update progress
After the Update
Section titled “After the Update”- Check the Dashboard to confirm the new version
- All your settings are preserved
- The device continues working as normal
Update Notifications
Section titled “Update Notifications”You may see notifications about updates:

| Update Complete | An update finished successfully |
| Restart Required | The device needs to restart to finish updating |
Checking Your Software Version
Section titled “Checking Your Software Version”To see what version your device is running:
- Open Arrow Manager
- Go to the Dashboard or Settings page
- Find the version information display
Troubleshooting Updates
Section titled “Troubleshooting Updates”Update Status Shows “Pending” for a Long Time
Section titled “Update Status Shows “Pending” for a Long Time”What this means:
- The update is waiting to be installed
- Your organization may have scheduled it for a specific time
- The device may be waiting for a good time to update
What to do:
- This is usually normal - updates install when scheduled
- Check with your administrator if concerned
- Ensure your device has a stable network connection
Version Hasn’t Changed After Expected Update
Section titled “Version Hasn’t Changed After Expected Update”Possible reasons:
- The update is still being processed
- Network issues delayed the download
- The update may have been rescheduled
What to do:
- Wait and check again later
- Click “Check Status” in Auto-Update settings
- Contact your administrator if the version is still old after a day
Device Seems Slow After Update
Section titled “Device Seems Slow After Update”What to try:
- Wait a few minutes - the device may still be completing setup
- Refresh the Dashboard page
- The device usually stabilizes quickly after updates
VPN Disconnected After Update
Section titled “VPN Disconnected After Update”This is normal during some updates:
- VPN updates may briefly disconnect the connection
- Wait a few minutes for automatic reconnection
- The VPN typically reconnects within 5-10 minutes
If VPN stays disconnected:
- Check VPN status in Arrow Manager
- Contact your administrator if it doesn’t reconnect
